Everyday in my job I try to find new ways to help my clients be more successful or improve their reputation on the Internet. I bought this book off of a recommendation of someone else and absolutely love it. I'm using it as a basis to building a standard structure for working with clients and improving their online reputation. I definitely recommend it for anyone from the beginner to the expert.

Radically Transparent is a wonderfully insightful book that gives tried and true steps for tracking and managing online reputations. Unlike other books that are heavy on theories, this book provides tactics and action plans that can used immediately. As a PR professional, it was great to see the synergy between public relations and search engine optimization outlined. In addition, Beal and Strauss bring in lots of timely examples that make the book entertaining and thought provoking.
A Topic Critical To Company Success Online April 10, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I first heard about this book while attending a search marketing conference in Northern California. I purchased a copy a few weeks later and was glad I did.
Authors Andy Beal and Judy Strauss are ahead of their time. Andy is constantly keeping up-to-date with search engine news and online marketing developments and I've been following his Marketing Pilgrim blog for some time now. I knew this book would be a great addition to the wealth f knowledge I've picked up from Andy in the past.
Managing one's reputation (or a company's) online is more important than ever. The book is well researched and loaded with relevant anecdotes.
The Only Guide You Need for Monitoring and Managing Your Online Reputation April 10, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
The fundamental question of Radically Transparent is: "People are talking about me and my business in all of these new ways online. How do I find out about this and what do I do about it?"
Other online marketing and business strategies had been around for years before the first great books about it were printed. Radically Transparent has bucked that trend by offering extensive and detailed information and how-to for online reputation monitoring, before most people are aware of it or its implications.
This is a book of how to most effectively monitor what people are saying about you and your business. From monitoring search engines, to blogs, to social networks and more, Andy Beal and Dr. Judy Strauss show you how to find out all of the places that conversations are happening about your business...and what to do about it.
Chock full of specific examples from JetBlue Airways to Dell Computer to GlaxoSmithKline, you'll read about very real and specific examples of when companies have had opportunities to pay attention to their online reputations, what they did or did not do about it, and the effects that followed.
By referencing these specific examples, as well as both of their own experiences over many years with online reputation monitoring and management, the authors provide three keys to successful reputation strategies:
1 - How to monitor your reputation online. 2 - How to engage your customers and become *part of* the conversations. 3 - How to manage your reputation, should you need to react.
It is this third step that shines above all. With the last two chapters, Radically Transparent helps you understand exactly how to design the strategies and tactics necessary to repair your reputation in times of crisis.
This book is absolutely essential for anyone who is looking to better understand the impact and strategies for managing your online reputation, including marketers, PR professionals, business professionals, and especially business owners.
I'm soon moving across the country and have packed away six boxes of books. Radically Transparent is one of only a few books, and the only online marketing-related book, that I'm not putting into storage.
Andy Beal--A leading authority on online reputation management March 3, 2008 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I've been online for well over a decade and from the very beginning I've been passionate about online marketing. I congratulate myself that fairly early on I identified Andy Beal as someone who could teach me a lot about online marketing in all its guises. He has validated my opinion consistently over the years.
His latest book, Radically Transparent: Monitoring and Managing Reputations Online, co-authored with Judy Strauss, is quite simply a masterpiece. This is a reference work that is highly informative and immensely valuable even for an experienced online professional. For the rest of us it's a tome that's simply not-to-be-missed.
Managing your online reputation is a fairly new problem. If you've suddenly realized that being pro-active about it is essential, you are on the fast track to success. But how do you manage your online reputation effectively? Beal and Strauss provide you with absolutely the latest and best knowledge to take your reputation management strategy in hand.
Whether you want to establish your brand or counter a smear campaign that's affecting your bottom line, this is definitely THE book for you to buy.
Learn how to use no-cost social marketing tactics to launch yourself as an expert, and see how you can turn negativity around to reflect positively on your business.
You need this knowledge now if you're to stay ahead of the game.
