Numerous content errors. June 6, 2003 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I passed my Network+ 886/900. Which means I missed one question. But my high score had NOTHING to do with this title. I also would like to add to the other disappointed reviews that I emailed BOTH Ron Gilster AND the dummies press with several instances of factually incorrect information, asking if any errata was posted; as of today, 12 months later, I have received NO REPLY from either party from the 4 emails I sent.Ed Tittel from Exam Cram ALWAYS returns emails. Are they unwilling to live up to the same standards?
Worth buying for the CD alone! September 10, 2002 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This might not be the most comprehensive book on the subject, but Gilster's books have never let me down. I passed the A+ exam using his book as well. It was what I needed-no more, no less, which was good because my full-time job and kids keep me busy enough. I passed the test the first time with a 92%. One word of caution: there are a few typographical errors, but the easy reading and good study aids on the CD more than made up for them.

I used this book to pass the Network+ certification book. I have had some experience in networking though and yes there were some inaccuracies in the book. It's a good book just to refresh some things before you take the test though.
The Only Book I Used. Scored 92%. December 6, 2001 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Ron Gilster delivers it all, and at the lowest cost out there. In a concise, time-saving manner this book gave me all the material I needed to learn for the test, and I'm not an IT professional (yet). Based on one of Ron's recommendations in the last part of the book, I bought Jeff Thorssell's (Dalidesign.com) practice test software along with a discounted test voucher from Jeff that paid for the software--what a deal! I put the book away after one read-through and one quick review. Then I repeatedly took the "Dummies" software tests and Thorssell's practice tests until I consistently scored well into the 90's. Knew I was ready. Sailed through the test with no anxiety whatsoever. The whole process took three weeks.
By the way, a few months ago I also got A+ certified with nothing but Gilster's A+ "Dummies" book and Thorssell's test software (and discounted vouchers). Yes, I got both certs for less than $50 investment. What more can I say except thanks, Ron and Jeff, for superb products!!!
Only 1 book is not enough to be certified, dumbo!! October 14, 2001 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Never ever, that is ever, use only one book and expect to be certified, and if it is Dummies, who would. On the bright side, this is a great companion, I am using the Osborne (red and denim color) as the text book. But I also heard that the Microsoft 3rd edition is selling well, maybe because it is a new release, where most of the Network+ books are printed in 1999.
