5 out of 5 stars 1310 pages of wonderful stuff.   August 19, 2004

During the year and almost a half since Server '03 came out, Microsoft has released several Feature Packs. These have not only fixed bugs, but tightened security, and changed the way Server '03 would be implemented and supported. Each of these has been analyzed and incorporated into this new edition of this 'standard' book.

The CD contained with the book includes far more than the normal code samples and other useless stuff. Here are the Feature Packs, the Server '03 Tools, Windows rights Management Services Client and Server SDKs and 14 Webcasts by the author.

This is not a book that you'll want to sit down and read from front to back at one setting. It is, however, more than a reference book. the authors write with a sense that they know what they are doing. They've been there and done that. The writing style shows that they can compare what the OS does now in comparison with what it did in earlier versions. I found this to be of great help when I was trying to do something the old way and the book pointed out that this is the way its done now. The book is not a surprise, you probably know what you are getting and you won't be disappointed.

4 out of 5 stars Great W2K3 Administrators book   July 8, 2004

This book is great for all people interested in Windows 2003 Server. It has examples and instructions on most of the administrative procedures. This book is not ideal as a study guide but more as a reference book for people who are already administators or systems enginners. The book is well presented and easy to read. Well worth buying

5 out of 5 stars covering almost all topics and clear explanations   October 17, 2003

I have read the book and covering almost all subjects.Explanations are very clear and all process and examples are given step by step.To tell more clearly ,especially for active directory domains, the writers used understandable graphics and writtens.Oftenly the differences between win2000 and win2003 are given as trips.
You can process examples on your pc without any problems because it seems that all examples were already tested.
If you are learning windows2003 by himself,it is very useful to you.

5 out of 5 stars Great Job!   August 16, 2003

I bought this book after watching a Webcast where the book was repeatedly referenced. Glad I got it, lots of defailts that weren't covered in the Webcast and I probably would have tried some of the things on my own and have failed. The book stepped me through the migration process to a point where I understand what is going on. This is a GREAT book, I highly recommend it for any company migrating to Windows 2003!

5 out of 5 stars Outstanding Reference Guide!   August 16, 2003

This book addressed my questions and then some! I've been tackling Group Policy problems for months and within minutes of jumnping to the chapter on Group Policies, I better understood where my problem was (and the new Group Policy Management Console is REALLY a Windows 2003 add-in that shouldn't be skipped!)

We're collapsing a couple of our domains into a centralized forest, and some of the tips in the book clarified a misunderstanding that my colleagues have been arguing for weeks.

I haven't even scratched the surface of this book, but I have a feeling it'll be well used for many many months to come.
