4 out of 5 stars Experienced with testing.   June 14, 2007

My opinion about this book is that this is very useful in order to learn about the facts that happens when you need to lead a group of testers, basically. To read this book you need a previous experience as a tester, in order to understand very clear the ideas. If you have this experience , great!!!!! The book is very very graphic about the facts that happens when you do your job as a testing leader.

I like the style of this book of short statements and blurbs. I find it easy to go back and look up something when needed.

Book contains a lot of useful tips and information, i recommend buying this book, really one of my favorite testing books.

5 out of 5 stars If you're a tester or developer, this book is a must-have.   July 28, 2006
Cem's book is a full chest of software testing's practical jewels. I found myself saying "wish I'd known that before I learned it the hard way". After a few years in software testing, I only wish such advice and clear-cut ideas were made available to newcomers and even experienced software QA and testing professionals. The format is inviting, concise and economical. It is truly an enjoyable read.

5 out of 5 stars Astonishing !!! Pure experience based knowledge shared to us.   March 29, 2006

As a test manager and tester for years I discovered recently this book. Astonishing how much it drives you to question yourself about methods accurate for YOUR testing project.Insightful to senior testers who find themselves in charge of a team or of a testing project. My testing will probably never be the same as I reread those advice and still try to find good question to ask myself to better my test.
Great Book.

5 out of 5 stars A ton of common sense that every Quality Engineer should know   March 17, 2006
This was like reading all the testing expreinces I have had in past 10 years. Some good, some bad; but it's all sumed up in this book. When I hire a new tester, this is one of the mandetory books they need to read.

There is alot of what I call common sense practices and ideas in this book. I do alot of these daily without even thinking about it. But I never thought about just writing them down. I kept catching myself saying "of course" to most of the lessons. But then I have testers who have not had as much exprience with testing or politics of testing and need to learn it. It's better for them to learn it by reading this book instead of trial and error.

So I agree with 90% of the lessons. But there is 10% that I totally disagree with. That's fine. It's good to see how others do testing and other methods. This is the best testing book out there that gives non-tester a glimpse into the world of testing. When I hire a tester, they have to read 3 books.
1. how to brake software (for people who are new to testing)
2. lessons learned in software testing
3. (well there are bunch more and I usually pick one depending on the kind of work they'll be doing. I'm not going to recommend a white box testing book for a black box tester).

Highly recommended books. Oh, it's easy reading too. You won't get bored.
