Near Flawless Design, Great Performance, Easy Setup on Mac OS X August 29, 2008

This offering from HP simply shines. It's performance is fantastic, with fast print speeds and incredibly crisp prints with accurate color reproduction. The first full-color page is out in less than 20 seconds from a cold start, even faster with b&w printing. I have this installed on a Mac OS X network and it was a breeze to install. I had it out of the box, setup on the network, and printing in less than ten minutes. The supplied software allows for full functionality on all of my Macs, wirelessly via Airport Express. The paper path is not as susceptible to paper jams as previous models I have owned and every part of the paper path, toner cartridges, drums, etc, are all accessible from the front of the printer, so there is no need to pull it out from the wall to service it. The duplex printing works very well and takes no additional space as the duplexer is all contained internally. The backlit LCD is a huge plus too...very bright and easy to read in all lighting situations. I use this in a restaurant office to print all of our menus, daily specials, signs, and more and it works flawlessly. Very highly recommended.
Pleased with full PCL 5 support August 29, 2008

When searching for a color laser our main concern and criteria was finding one that had full support for PCL 5. This is increasingly difficult to find. We needed it to have FULL support for PCL5 so that it would be compatible with some older universe/unix programs that we already had and didn't want to have to re-write. We had previously tried a different HP laserjet (1022n) which said it had PCL 5e support, and after testing it we found that it didn't support all of the commands and did not work with our existing software. So we had our fingers crossed when we ordered the CP3505 and we have not been disappointed. This printer worked perfectly and seems to work with all of the PCL 5 commands that we have tried so far. We are pleased with its performance printing from Windows as well, and have had no problems with it on our network print server.

This printer was a snap to set up. On my Macs, the printer announces itself as available. If chosen, it loads the appropriate drivers and is ready to go. On my PC's, it was a bit harder. Software had to be loaded from the included CD and the IT guys had to work around some of the security settings on our network to get it going. It prints high-speed, two-sided, high resolution documents.
