 Good Remote, with a few nuances December 4, 2008

I got this remote as a Christmas gift to myself. At first glance, it's nice. There's really nothing notably "wrong" with this remote, but there are a few subtle things that I wish were better.
Pros: can control anything, and I mean anything. The software makes it easy to set this remote up, and if there is anything on your OEM remote that this one doesn't do, then it will learn the command, and you can assign it to a custom button on the touchscreen. Plus, the software remembers the learned command, and you can use that command throughout the remote. The buttons are laid out intuitively, and it is aesthetically pleasing.
cons: the remote takes a long time to update from the software...up to 4 or 5 minutes. Doesn't sound like very long, but when you are just changing one or two things (tweaking) the remote, you would expect it to update more quickly, but it doesn't. Also, if you are using one of the macros, and something doesn't turn on, you have to go through a help wizzard to get it turned on. Sure, you can go straight to the device and turn it on, but then the remote thinks you turned it off, so when you power everything off, it won't power that device off, so (once again) you'll have to go into devices and power it off yourself. Again, nothing big, but it defeats the purpose of macros. This only seems to happen on my av receiver, which has somewhat of a narrow IR reception range.
All in all, I would definitely recommend this one. Plus, i got it when it was only 169, so even better!!!

I owned an 880 however the buttons began sticking and gave me a reason to upgrade. The Harmony One is top notch. If you own an old Harmony, it is $$$$$ well spent.

I just purchased this to replace 4 other remotes for my entertainment system. The set-up was very easy and I even made custom program to change the optical input on my reciever when watching a DVD. When I'm done watching the DVD and switch to another function, the remote automatically tells the receiver to switch back to Optical 1. I don't know how I got by for so long without one of these! Buy one now!
Great Remote December 2, 2008
It's an awesome remote, works with my TV, STB, and VMCE perfectly. However, the key presses are a bit slow even with the Inter-key Delay set to 0. Also, software needs improvement.

This remote works great, I was worried that it would not work with my older onkyo receiver but it works flawlessly. It was so much easier to configure than any other universal remote I've ever used. It is so great and easy to use, my wife can even use it. It is very intuitive and the help function is great. Five stars from me, I think that if you have one and it is not satisfactory then it must be a defect, exchange it fast.
