Obnoxious Company Too December 4, 2008 Monster cable sues anyone who uses the word "Monster" in their company or business name, including small, family-owned businesses in completely unrelated fields (mini-golf, vintage clothing). So the fact that the product they sell is an over-priced rip-off is not surprising.
They suckered me. Don't let them sucker you. December 4, 2008 Having just spent thousands of dollars on a new TV, stereo and blu-ray player I did something foolish. I bought this cable. I thought that it would be vastly superior to some "cheap" HDMI cable. I was wrong.
My nephew brought me a $10 monoprice cable. There's no difference at all.
I've since learned this is because with digital signals, they either work perfectly or not at all. There isn't really a middle ground. It's not like old analog cables, where improving the signal by 2% improved the sound and display by 2%. Here, there is no gain.
I was a sucker. Don't you be a sucker, too.
overpriced, never worth it December 4, 2008 While HDMI cables do provide superior signals, there is absolutely no reason for paying this much for a cable. The workmanship and materials are equal to a cable costing 25% of this one, so please, don't support a company that thrives off those lacking knowledge in the tech and gadget field. Don't believe their hype: the signal you get won't be any better just because of their cable.
Do a search for 'cheap hdmi' and if you happen to find a result for monoprice dot com, go there. The cables are just the same, but a fraction of the cost.
That is, unless you want to pay $100+ for an 'M' on your plug.
Buy a nicer TV instead of this cable! December 4, 2008 There's no discernible difference between this cable and a generic $10 HDMI cable I tried (purchased elsewhere), so this one got returned. Do yourself a favor - spend the $120 extra on buying yourself a nicer television instead of wasting it on the Monster brand name and nothing more!
Not worth it December 4, 2008 Best Buy tried to sell me this, it is NOT worth it. Go to Newegg, buy a cheap HDMI, it will work exactly the same. This cable will not improve your quality, it just cost a lot of money.
