| Customer Reviews:
DO NOT CONFUSE NT1 WITH EXPRESS 3000! December 15, 2006 I arrived at this site while searching for information about Adtran Express 3000 ISDN modem. The NT1 and Express 3000 are ISDN modems but individual users need to use the Express 3000.
The NT1 is designed for multi-users, though it can be configured to work with one user but it cannot generate the promised speed 480kbps to the typical home user, for various complex reasons.
Two major problems are additional expense to upgrade ports and software to handle speeds over 230kbps and inability of my ISP's to provide necessary equipment for speeds over 115kbps.
However, the Adtran Express 3000 modem is easy to setup, durable and handles almost any problems without involvement of user. It does not handle power surges or lightning so it is wise to use a powerful surge protecter that cost around $100.00+ that will stop power surges. The strip surge protector cannot save an ISDN modem.
APC backup/surge protectors have stopped lightning twice for me but the best protector is unplugging from electrical outlets and phone jacks when a thunderstorm is in the area.
