Product Description
During a time when many companies are considering how to cut costs, medium to long-term strategies are being written to move large corporations away from more expensive urban areas to newly developed and relatively cheaper business districts. There is nothing more frustrating than moving into a new office, then trying to upgrade technology months afterwards and causing serious disruption to install the cabling, cooling, ducting or having to modify office space. Enterprises moving to new office accommodations need to address the technology issues in the early stages: which new technologies to consider for incorporation in a new office when the office opens and later when technology matures. It is worth pointing out that Giga is an IT advisory service and detailed physical site design is the purview of licensed design/build engineering firms that specialize in data center construction. When selecting a design/build firm, it is important to understand that (1) only a small subset of engineering firms have specific skills and experience in data center design and (2) restrictions may exist in leased space as the facilities management firm may require use of their own site engineers that are already on retainer.
