This article introduces the built--in editing functionality available with the Microsoft HTML parsing and rendering engine (MSHTML) that is available in Internet Explorer 5.5 and above. Author Anjam Tahir explores many of its features and demonstrates how they can be used to develop a fully functional online text editing tool. The article's main focus are the features that will facilitate the development of a Microsoft Word--like online text editor. It also covers the ways to build a set of extensible client/server objects to manage the online editor's functionality.
