Kudo for a job welll done! December 26, 2008 I'd though I would never meet anyone who is very good of what he does in the IT industry and also knows how to write so good that everyone could understand ... until I met Mark. He is funny like hell, and it shows when he talks, or writes, but don't let that fools you; Mark is very good in what he does. All the books he has written, including this series about W2k8 would help anyone who want to know, and be very good with W2k8 achieve their goals in a clear, down-to-earth ways. And none of his books are only copy-from-the-Microsoft-technet down. Mark and his team does their own labs, and test everything that Microsoft offers in the OS product. For awhile, I'd thought I was the only one who did that. I had a habbit to test everything Microsoft says, although I'd doubt that I would ever use it. For instance, like RIS in W2k or W2k3. But it's quite pleasant surprised that Mark and his team did test everything themselves. Majority of the books' authors out there don't. Quite sad, but it's true!
Anyway, for being in Microsoft area for a long time, I could recognize a very good onem or very best ones, easily, and Mark is a very few best ones for many years. Buy the whole series and you will not be disappointed.
Mastering Windows Server 2008 with the Master December 12, 2008 I cannot express my appreciation enough for Mark's writing style. No longer am I fighting sleep and endless distractions while trudging through a technical manual. This is a Must Have for anyone that is in the IT field. Very easy and informative read. This will reside on the shelf as another priceless reference. Mark's books - along with his free forum www.minasi.com - have continued to make "me" an IT hero...
Thank You Mark!

Good stuff August 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book is very good. It covers, as the title suggests, Networking Foundations. Most of the book is similar to the Windows Server 2003 book by Minasi, however there are sections (which are marked) where Server 2008 new stuff is covered. I've read a lot of server books and most are dry or irrelevant. This book is neither. It has a lot of information that is helpful and even a bit of humour. I'd wholeheartedly recommend this book!
